Revolve Acquires Dion Lee: A New Chapter for the Cult Australian Label

In a significant move within the fashion industry, U.S.-based e-commerce giant Revolve Group has acquired the intellectual property assets of Australian luxury brand Dion Lee. The acquisition, reportedly valued at under $1 million, marks a new beginning for the designer label that had previously faced financial challenges.

Founded in Sydney in 2009, Dion Lee quickly gained international acclaim for its architectural designs and innovative approach to fashion. The brand’s prominence was solidified with its debut at New York Fashion Week in 2014. However, by May 2024, Dion Lee entered administration, burdened by $35 million in liabilities, following the withdrawal of major investor Cue Clothing.

Revolve’s acquisition includes Dion Lee’s design archives and other brand assets. While official statements from both parties are pending, reports suggest that Dion Lee may continue as the brand’s creative director under Revolve’s ownership.

This strategic acquisition aligns with Revolve’s efforts to expand its luxury portfolio and resonate with a global audience. With its robust e-commerce platform and strong presence among Gen Z and millennial consumers, Revolve is well-positioned to revitalize Dion Lee’s brand presence and reach.

As the fashion community anticipates the brand’s relaunch, the collaboration between Dion Lee and Revolve could signify a successful revival of the label, blending its distinctive design ethos with Revolve’s digital retail expertise.
