Khiry

Fine Jewelry with a Point of View: The Power of Khiry

Origins and Founding

Khiry was founded in 2016 by Jameel Mohammed, a then-student at the University of Pennsylvania who began designing jewelry as a political and artistic response to the lack of Black representation in the luxury fashion space. What started as a side project quickly evolved into a critically acclaimed fine jewelry brand—one that uses design as a platform for cultural storytelling, rooted in the Black diaspora.

Ownership and Leadership

Jameel Mohammed remains the sole founder and creative director of Khiry, overseeing everything from artistic inspiration to sculptural development. With collections often referencing African heritage, diasporic futures, and Afrofuturist aesthetics, Khiry has grown into a bold, intellectual voice in the fine jewelry world.

Aesthetic and Design Language

Khiry blends conceptual art and sleek elegance. Each piece carries symbolic meaning, often inspired by natural forms (like antelope horns or cowrie shells) or Black cultural history. The designs are futuristic and fluid—ear cuffs that mimic armor, rings with sweeping curves, and chokers that look sculpted by hand. While grounded in minimalism, Khiry’s work evokes emotion and narrative, transforming jewelry into wearable monuments of identity and heritage.

Notable Pieces

  • Khartoum Hoops – Oversized crescent hoops inspired by antelope horns, one of the brand’s earliest and most recognizable styles.
  • Talismans & Cuffs – Sculptural bangles, chokers, and statement pieces adorned with symbolic motifs like moons, eyes, and ancestral forms.
  • High Jewelry Capsule – Limited-run fine jewelry in 18K gold and diamonds, often worn on red carpets and editorial shoots.
  • Khiry Fine Ear Cuffs – Sleek ear adornments designed to contour the lobe or helix, often layered for a celestial effect.

    The Future

Khiry is entering a new chapter, with expanding fine jewelry lines, gallery-level collaborations, and deeper storytelling around diaspora and luxury. The brand is exploring fragrance and object design while preparing for its first standalone boutique. As Mohammed continues to bridge fine art and wearable design, Khiry remains one of the most critically important voices in modern American jewelry.
