Simon Miller

Color, Character, and the Cult of Simon Miller

Origins

Simon Miller began in 2008 as a men’s denim label inspired by Japanese selvedge and raw materials. But the brand’s real turning point came in 2013 when Chelsea Hansford joined the team—and by 2016, she’d taken full creative control. With a fearless vision, she reshaped Simon Miller into the vibrant, mid-century modern–inspired womenswear and lifestyle brand it’s known as today.

Ownership

Chelsea Hansford, a graduate of FIT with prior stints at Opening Ceremony and BLK DNM, now leads Simon Miller as both CEO and Creative Director. She’s the driving force behind its joyful, irreverent aesthetic—pulling influence from architecture, furniture design, and 1970s West Coast culture.

Aesthetic

Playful luxury is the Simon Miller signature. Bold colors, mod shapes, and sculptural silhouettes meet punchy graphics and nostalgic textures. The brand’s world is a technicolor dreamscape—think Palm Springs in the ’70s, seen through a glossy editorial lens. Each collection balances elevated essentials with quirky, collectible pieces that make dressing feel like an art form.

Signature Pieces

  • Bonsai Bag – The iconic minimalist bucket bag that sparked a thousand Instagram posts.
  • Bubble Clogs & Cloud Slides – Cushy, colorful, and wildly fun footwear made for maximalist lounging.
  • Crocheted Dresses – Bright, graphic knits with standout geometric flair.
  • Striped Poplin Sets – Breezy, resort-ready outfits that channel poolside chic.
  • Raffia Accessories – From hats to bags, Simon Miller’s summer staples feel equal parts vacation and gallery-worthy.

Its bold, color-soaked identity helped pave the way for the “joy dressing” wave of the 2020s.

    The Future

In 2025, Simon Miller opened its first flagship store in downtown Los Angeles—painted in vibrant chartreuse, naturally. The boutique doubles as a brand universe: part shop, part showroom, part creative hub.
