#2 Lucky Brand (W+M+K) $$

Staying true to the rich heritage — and authentic, all-American spirit — of denim, Lucky Brand began crafting great-fitting, vintage-inspired jeans in Los Angeles in 1990. We gave them their distinctively Lucky look by literally putting them through the wringer — ripping, fraying, sanding, patching and washing by hand — to give them true character and soul. Then, we added authentic hardware, personalized touches and playful details, and an American legend was born.

#4 True Religion (W+M+K) $$$

In 2002, True Religion emerged onto the Los Angeles denim scene by blowing up the construction of the classic five-pocket jean. Industry-standard sewing machines couldn't handle our designs, so we broke them apart and rebuilt them to produce our one-of-a-kind vision. With its five-needle thread at two-stitch-per-inch process, our Super T stitch was instantly recognized for style that was unlike any other denim brand in the world.

#5 Levis (W+M+K) $-$$

Levi Strauss & Co. an American clothing company known worldwide for its Levi's brand of denim jeans. It was founded in May, 1853[5] when German immigrant Levi Strauss came from Buttenheim, Bavaria, to San Francisco, California to open a west coast branch of his brothers' New York dry goods business. Today's Levi's are made overseas, in many small developing countries like India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia etc. because of cheap and easy labor and raw materials and there is only one line of jeans made in the United States, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company's corporate headquarters is located in the Levi's Plaza in San Francisco.

As a company, we believe in solid commitments and perseverance in the face of obstacles and challenges. Most of all, we respect ourselves, each other, our western heritage and the environment in which we live. It's the same as ever, even before the first pair of Wrangler® jeans were made in 1947. Our history runs parallel to the rise of the country, our jeans worn by the same people who built it.

#9 NYDJ (Not Your Daughters Jeans) (W) ($$)

NYDJ jeans are made by women, for women—all shapes, all sizes, all women. Back in 2003, comfortable and flattering jeans for every woman simply did not exist. Most jeans had low waists and fit uncomfortably, and if they did fit well, they were just not stylish. Originally founded as “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans,” we set out to design jeans that fit in all the right places and make every woman feel comfortable and confident—like her best self.

#12 Citizens of Humanity (W+M) $$$

These days, everyone’s talking about vertical integration. At Citizens of Humanity, we’re actually doing it. So what does that mean? As one of the very few vertically integrated denim production facilities in the United States, we manufacture everything at our own sewing and laundry facilities—all located within 15 minutes of our Los Angeles based design studio, giving us complete control over the quality of our products. Before they are in your hands, each pair of Citizens jeans passes through the hands of at least forty others. We want you to know that wherever and whenever you purchase your Citizens jeans, each and every product has been crafted with integrity. So, here’s how everything comes together, down to the last stitch.

#13 G-Star Raw (W+M) $$$

Since our creation in 1989, G-Star’s philosophy has always been, ‘Just the Product.’ This single-minded approach has led to many denim ‘firsts’: the introduction of ‘luxury denim for the streets,’ by fusing high-level craftsmanship with street level edge to create a new denim sector; the positioning of raw, untreated denim as a wearable and desirable material; and the evolution of our distinctive denim silhouette, through the adoption of architectural and 3-D thinking into denim construction.

#14 Guess (W+M+K) $$

GUESS was established in 1981 by the Marciano brothers, who left the south of France in pursuit of the American dream. Inspired by a European influence, the Marcianos redefined denim. One of their initial designs was a stonewashed, slim-fitting jean, the 3-zip Marilyn. Bloomingdale's was the first department store to welcome the brand by ordering two dozen pairs of jeans. They disappeared from the shelves in just hours. This was the beginning of a long success story.
